Registration is Closing Soon for CCSS and Innovate! August Summer Seminars

WEA is pleased to offer to its Western Washington members comprehensive trainings on Common Core State Standards and Innovations in the classroom during its summer seminars taking place August 1-4 at the WEA Headquarters building in Federal Way. Registration is open but space is nearing capacity so we encourage you to sign up now! The seminars are being offered to current WEA members only, and clock hours are available at no charge. Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and other associated attendance costs.

Common Core State Standards (20 Clock Hours Available)

Tuition Fee for WEA members:  $120.00    

Looking to grab hold of the ELA and Math standards?
Want to learn how to effectively implement them?
Wondering about standards-aligned lessons and curriculum?
Curious about how the instructional shifts can be applied to meet the needs of all students?

These 3-day courses will give participants practical instructional strategies and curriculum design ideas to help them teach standards-aligned units, facilitate student learning, and meet the needs of all their students.
Register now for the WEA CCSS August Summer Seminars! Choose to focus on either ELA or Math. 
The 3-day courses will be offered:
Monday – Wednesday, August 1 - 3, from 8:00 am to 3:40 pm each day

Innovate! Passion and Bravery in Teaching: Rethinking STEM and the Humanities (30 Clock Hours Available)

This course meets the STEM Renewal Requirement for Teacher Certification
Tuition Fee for WEA members:  $150.00 

This intensive seminar will give members a 4-day immersion into practical strategies to continue innovative classroom practices while integrating them with the newest evolution of classroom standards.  It is a hands-on experience that will have participants integrating the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards into the curriculum they currently teach.  While new methods and techniques will be applied, all attendees will be creating lessons using their own subject area curriculum.
This course will be offered:
Monday–Thursday, August 1 - 4, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Wednesday, 

9:00 am to 3:30 pm on Thursday
