A General Membership meeting was held May 29th. Fifty members attended what was probably the shortest one in the history of the SVEA, thirty minutes.
The dues increase was approved by a vote of 44-6. The new language to the Constitution and By-laws was approved by a vote of 46-4.
Freedom Johnson, WEA Sammamish Uniserv Director, spoke about the need to get out to family, friends, neighbors, and community events to gather signatures for Class Size Counts. We are 50% of our goal of 5 signature per member. We made a stand last fall over class size- we need to back that by ensuring that it gets on the ballot next fall. We have three weeks of school to go!
Please try to attend an event this weekend by going to http://bit.ly/1kgAxZw and signing up. You could get 100 in an hour. Fall City Days is coming up on the 14th of June. If you can, join SVEA members there. Please let me know, and I'll let the coordinator know you can be there. (I can't, my son is getting married that day!)
I did take the initiative to a camp-out last weeken. I got 22 signatures just sitting around the campfire. It really is that easy.
