From the Washington State PTA...
Last week – thousands of e-mails flooded the House of Representatives asking support for a bill to fund critical capital construction needs for our schools. The House answered by passing the bill out 90-7. The Senate has responded with an even bigger proposal which addresses most of the underlying concerns of the original bill. Even though neither bill fully addresses the need, we are thankful that legislators are hearing our voice and working on this critical issue. Click here to send a message of support to your Senator!
The new bill proposed by the Senate would fund $825 million in general obligation bonds for a state grant program to meet additional science lab / STEM requirements, help school districts meet the capital needs of fully funding all-day kindergarten, and meet the K-3 class size reduction needs as required in HB 2261. Contact your Senator and urge them to truly fund basic education by voting yes on SB 6483!
